Control Sources has been a registered small-business in Maryland for over 20 years. When Mike Palla and his partners (who have since sold their stake) left their respective companies to create Control Sources, they chose to partner with Siemens because of the open protocol (Lon) the controls utilized. During its time with Siemens, Control Sources was awarded the Platinum Achievement award (among others) for being an “ultimate” partner. After two years with Siemens, Control Sources was given the opportunity to partner with Andover. Considering Andover’s robust system and Control Sources’ clients (such as North Arundel Hospital), the decision was made to partner with Andover in order to provide a more comprehensive user interface to high profile clients. During this time Control Sources also added Steafa to its repertoire so that smaller clients, who still needed a graphical interface, could be offered a more cost-effective option. Around 2001 Steafa inherited a Tridium operating system; Control Sources has been certified and proficient in Tridium programming since this time. After great success with both the Andover and Steafa lines (Control Sources was presented with multiple awards including, but not limited to, the President’s Circle Award for outstanding growth) Control Sources partnered with Schneider Electric, who purchased Andover.
Over the years Schneider Electric has perfected its control system; given its cost effectiveness it can be utilized for smaller projects with tight budgets and because of its robustness it can be utilized for high profile and complex control systems. Because of the versatility Schneider “Ecostruxure” provides, Control Sources leads with this system. Control Sources’ experience with various manufacturers systems allows for the specialized solutions that customers require in the evolving world of BAS.
Control Sources has installed and/or provides service to over 80 schools across Montgomery County, PG County, Howard County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County. Additionally, Control Sources has clientele in the pharmaceutical laboratory, Archdiocese of Baltimore, private school, and commercial markets.

Through Schneider Electric’s Access Expert, you can monitor exactly who is entering/exiting the facility and where they are at any given moment. Ability to immediately enable or disable an employees card access, mass messaging alerts, and building lockdowns. Control Sources can install an integrated camera system to monitor sensitive and/or secure areas and entry/exit points. Access Expert is integratable to your facility’s Automatic Temperature Controls and Camera Surveillance System for a easy to operate and user friendly Building Automation System.
